Please see the notice below relating to the Parish of St. Peter’s Priorslee

St Peter’s Church Building is now a Closed Church and no longer accessible. The final service took place on Sunday 29th June 2025.

NOTICE 10/07/26

It has been brought to the attention of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) of St Peter’s Church, Priorslee, that the St Peter’s Church building has been listed for sale by the Diocese of Lichfield.

Following the closure of the church in June 2025, responsibility for the building passed to the Diocese of Lichfield. At no point has the Diocese contacted either the PCC or the Benefice of East Telford to discuss the future of the building. Nor did it extend the courtesy of informing us before the property was listed for sale. We became aware of the sale through a social media post on Wednesday, 8 July 2026.

As a result, we have no further information to share at this time.

Please direct any comments or questions regarding the sale of the building to the Diocese of Lichfield. Contact details can be found on its website.

We would, however, like to reassure everyone that the churchyard remains open and continues to be managed by St Peter’s PCC. We are grateful to the teams of volunteers who gave their time last week to help clear and maintain the churchyard.

The St Peter’s worshipping community continues to hold services on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 3.00 pm in the chapel at Holy Trinity Academy, Priorslee. Our Places of Welcome group also continues to meet every Thursday from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm at the Priorslee and St George’s Scout Hall. Everyone is warmly welcome to join us.

For any further information regarding the sale of the church building, please contact the Diocese of Lichfield directly.

About Us:

St Peter’s Church Priorslee was built in it’s current place in 1844 moving from a place near to where Holy Trinity Academy School is currently. The years have taken their toll on the church building however and it is now closed. The Churchyard remains open and is used to the best of its potential.

Services continue however and run out of Holy Trinity Academy School (Teece Drive, Priorslee) at 4pm on 2nd and 4th Sundays (back to where it first came from), also at 11am on 3rd Sunday.

The building is fully accessible for those who require the use of a lift to gain access to the chapel or hall. There is also plenty of free car parking available.

We are part of the Inclusive Church network and are passionate about serving all people. We are a ‘Working to become Dementia Friendly’ church and we are always looking for ways to improve our worship and our service to include all people.

St Peter’s Church also works within its community offering a short service and Place of Welcome each Thursday in Priorslee and St Georges Scout Hut (Snedshill Way, St Georges TF2 9QQ) from 1:00 till 3:00 pm.
